I have more video material yet I’m not confident of it’s quality or possible copy rights  because of the background music. I do all this because I enjoy it and I know how much I like it when others share their knowledge with me. I recently purchased a used galaxy to complement my own phone for recording. Quite often I would get out of the shoot without even knowing. Having the 🎥  pointed from different angles may/should solve the problem.
I’m not much of a videographer. I can cut and shorten my files, oh sorry I recently learned how to add text to it but that’s about it. It’s not my cup of tea. What software do you use? Few of my friends suggested all this Mac stuff and yes I agree, even from my limited knowledge of the subject it is the best. My question is; do I want to sidetrack and  spend hours upon hours on trying to learn the new tool. Hollywood is not on my bucket list.😀 I want something simple that can operate in windows environment with learn as you go or as needed if you will.

Actually I have seen that big steel engine fan blade used on other M127 engines equipped with AC. Might have been part of the dealer installed AC kit at one time?

600's used steel fan blades. I didn't look closely enough to see if this one is or not.
I can take a better pic of the fan in daylight tomorrow. As for the A/C, yes this car was equipped with it and I still have all the components. Although I’ll not be installing it.

I decided not to cause any more delays by waiting on plated parts. I just cleaned and lubricated pivot points for now. I’m also using another valve cover as it is possible that my original is contaminated. This definitely takes away from the presentation but eliminates the risk.
There is few other, rather small things that came up in the last few days. As most of it is visual, I’ll be addressing it at later date.
I plan to finish the cooling system bypass tonight. Of to the garage I go.

Thank you Joe. I’ll definitely do that before the engine goes in. At the moment I have the shield placed this way so it allows for quick visual inspection around the manifolds.
I plan to setup a jerrycan today and see if I can fire it up.

Guys, all is well. I was able to run the engine up to temperature 3 times now.
Idle is down to 800rpm and quite stable. I can go a touch under 600 but than things start to shake a bit, vacuum drops and the vicious circle starts.
Since I’m in the very early stages of setting up this motor I read a lot. Lots of it is there in the BBB and other manuals but fine details can only be found here. This site really is the welt of information. I came across so many interesting threads but this one here ;

really struck me. Everything that I came across is there and well documented.
At this point I only have one unknown with regards to timing. Looking through the Bosch distributor sheets, advance starts at 1000rpm for 051 distributor yet other manuals call for 4 to 8 degree of advance at idle. Since 700rpm seams to describe a healthy idle than that would put the above statements at disagreement.
I would like to pick a direction now and need to make a decision on the timing. My plan is to dial in 2deg at 600rpm already. I don’t quite see myself going for 8deg. at idle as I definitely don’t want to have any backfire or other racing related sounds coming out of my engine. I want the engine to turn as smooth as possible in low rpm range. I will be tuning it for power at the appropriate mileage.

For those who are puzzled over having or not having vacuum leak, there is another simple way to make a smoke machine - you need a windshield washer pump and an e-cigarette.

I got yet another set of ignition cables. Purchased from K&K in Michigan. High quality set with proper 1K resistance. It made quite a difference on the spark front and overall running of the engine. Improvements all around, bellow is the latest scope screen shot;

Not much is happening on the pagoda front now. Just some TLC around the engine. I finally got that valve cover refinished and the throttle bar on top is in the works. I'll have a pic as soon as the sun comes out

I thought I read on this site that the correct ignition cables are the non resistor cables.

Timing advance starts at 1000 to 1,200 RPM. Part of that is vacuum and the other part is mechanical.

 The 8 degrees BTDC is idle timing and has nothing to do with distributor function. The fact that you set this timing using the distributor is incidental.
