Detlev:
I have a booklet entitled "Air Conditioning installation instructions for Mercedes Benz 280SL" manufactured by Frigiking 91-13797, REV B It is 10 pages (zweiseitig) with text, diagrams and photographs. I have that air conditioner in my car. I did some maintenance on it last year and recharged it using Duracool 12. It is a replacement for Freon 12 and approved for sale here. Yesterday I ran it (we had a warm day and the soft top was closed) I have a thermometer at the air outlet and measured 38°Fahrenheit. The refrigerant does not have as much molecular weight as Freon 12. It works adequately but not as well as Freon 12.
You can probably go on the web and look up Duracool. It's a Canadian product. Please note: You must evacuate to at least 200 microns and let it sit at that for a few hours. I evacuated to 50 microns and let it sit overnight. (Die Anleitung ist in Englisch)
