Wheel Cylinder Removal
« on: May 29, 2021, 17:14:43 »
Hi and looking for some tips. I’ve unsuccessfully tried to find an answer to my specific question on the site. I’m replacing a drum wheel cylinder on my ‘65 230 SL. I have it ready to remove but still need to detach the pins from the old cylinder. What step(s) am I missing?

Appreciate someone’s assistance!

Thanks,

John

Hi John,
If you are talking about the pins that actuate the brake pads, these are just floating in the cylinder and should come out by themselves.

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for responding. Your reply led me to push the cylinder out from its mounting position and then it was easy to remove the pins. All back together and bled. Live and learn, with help!

Many thanks,

John
