Wiring question
« on: June 09, 2021, 04:58:43 »
Can anybody help me as to what this pretty tired looking wire would be. Looks precariously in danger of losing its function. I’ve been trying to find where the Speedo cable enters transmission and came across this.

Hi,
if you mean the green/red (German: grün/rot) cable the att. file may help you:
53 Fast idle solenoid --> 54 Terminal block transmission --> 57V/57R Pressure switches

Sorry. Poor picture. It’s actually the shite wire behind. I’ve since found another wire on the opposite side of the transmission just hanging!

Hi,
your wire looks white but I assume it should be green/red coming from both pressure switches 57V/57R.
When engaging a gear or when engaging reverse gear, one of the two oil pressure switches V or R actuates the idle solenoid (switches ground) to increase the speed. This prevents the engine from dieing when a gear is engaged.

Thank you WRe for the explanation. Now that the wires are connected I’ll look for a idle change. I’ve just purchased the vehicle so still getting to know her. This forum is an invaluable source of knowledge.
