Hello all,
I recently had the rear suspension refurbished in two 280SLs which included new bushes, new rubber spring cups etc. Both cars were working fine with no sagging of the suspension etc but we just had this work done to remove some clonks under acceleration and for general upkeeping of the cars. The spare parts for both cars were bought together, mostly via dealer network and some from alternative suppliers in Germany.
To our surprise, following this, one of the cars came out with a very stiff (and bouncy) suspension almost as if all the suspension compliance was coming just from the tyres. The other one was completely normal. No shock absorbers or springs were changed, just the bushes and yet we are lost at trying to explain the different behaviour on two identical cars worked upon by the same garage.
I am now going back to the garage to get this corrected but thought the collective wisdom and prior experience of this group would be useful in helping to identify the problem so here is goes, over to you gentlemen, any ideas/suggestions will be mostly welcomed.
