Checking and topping off fluids….
« on: September 13, 2021, 07:10:47 »
To help owners/members old and new…can we build a definitive list for the correct way of checking and topping off of fluids?

Engine running? Engine warm? Engine cold? Drive it before checking? Where to check and where to fill, plus any quantities (not from empty)

Oil
Coolant
Brake fluid
Transmission fluid
Auto Transmission fluid
Power steering

Have you checked the maintenance document we have in the Technical Manual? Seems to me quite a lot is there.

What we may need is the list of MB PN list for these fluids. i can do it if useful.

Thanks Pawel. Which fluids and total quantities from empty are there for adding as part of (say) a service.
But, I’m trying to get to… if you need to check tranny fluid, where to check, where to fill, and should you have hot/cold/running engine.

(Yes, the info is going to be on the site with enough searching, but if we can consolidate into one spot,  I can then put in the tech manual as a piece)

These are, indeed, important questions. There are two documents in the Tech Manual on this: one is Excel, providing the form for scheduling of the maintenance service, the other one is pdf that contains all the instructions.

I type on the phone, once I get to computer I will provide link. Do not want to attach the document as it is under reserved content.
