Long term ownership
« on: August 25, 2022, 02:39:10 »
Is there anyone out there that maintains an informal list of length of continuous ownership of an SL?

I recently realized that I bought my 280SL in 1975 and that I've had continuous ownership of my SL for 47 years. I'm probably pretty high up on the list of long term ownership of an SL and am wondering if there any other very long term owners out there.

I know Mercedes offers grill ornaments for high mileage ownerships, but is there anything for multi decade owners?

I'm in the NYC area would love to hear from other long term owners.

If you are near NYC , remember to come to the big show on September 17-18.

I took delivery of my 1st SL, a 250 in May of ‘67, traded it in for my 280SL in Sept ‘68 so I guess that works out to over 55  years of continuous Pagoda ownership. I think there might be a couple of other members that have owned their cars longer

Have 49er, John beat by 2 months, wife's father took ownership of 1967 250SL  in March 67, make it 55 years and 5 months, if that counts.

ejboyd5 for the gold .... in more ways than one!

@Alex I don't think family ownership counts in this contest-of-who-holds-their-Pagoda-the-longest?

We have published stories about Alex D's car, MB Paul's car, and 49er's car

If you would like to get one published in Pagoda Notes or Pagoda World, put one together and send it to me. Don't stress about format, I can deal with that, it is the overall content and photos that are the key items.

Pagoda Notes:
Vol 7, all four issues that year
Vol 9 #1
Vol 12 #3

Pagoda World 20 has an article about MB Paul (single owner)

One of the fun stories from Alex D's ownership (along with the unique turquoise interior) - when he got the car from his father-in-law, it had four different brand tires. Hey you only need to replace the one that failed don't you??

Took delivery in Bend, Oregon in April 1971 and immediately taken to Loma Linda, CA. Approximately 140k miles of happy driving in California. The Pagoda Community has proven to be as interesting as the vehicle!
