Power steering pump
« on: October 19, 2021, 17:30:37 »
Have 1969 lhd 280sl and my power steering pump shaft osxleaking out the front. It is vickers VT 27 100 50 85 1910 MC GE67

I have this one as spare VT 27 100 50 85 1910 M GE63

notice that there is no letter C after the M and last digit is 3 not 7 like mine on car.

Can anyone please advice would this pump be ok use. I cannot spot any visual difference apart from the front shaft seal is slightly different and both are tapered.

I am basically trying to do straight swop over all at same time then rebuild my original at later date.
Thanks

The performance data of the pumps is the same. They are different generations ( years of manufacture). They may have different materials used for seals or other minor changes. If the physical dimensions are the same, they are interchangeable.

Thanks Marksimon for your reply. I have had someone else confirm what your saying and now going to send off for rebuild. Then I can just do complete change over get original rebuilt also and just put away.
