Hirschmann Original Antenna for 280SL
« on: February 09, 2022, 15:01:55 »
Hello All,

I need an antenna for my 280SL (Dec 1970). I would prefer an original Hirschmann one if possible. I believe the model reference is AUTA 6000.

If you have one for sale or know where I can get one, please let me know.

I'm located in Northern Ireland so I would prefer to buy one from somewhere local, but I will consider one from any country.

Thanks,

Damien

Hello Damien,
you should find a lot of offers with this Hirschmann Antanna AUTA 6000 on EBay. At least on the German sites you can find many.
Best wishes!
Sebastian

Hello Sebastian,

Thank you for your advice.

I understand that there are variations of the AUTA 6000 to suit different cars. Do you know the reference number I should search for?

Thanks again for your help.

Kind regards,

Damien

Any 6000 model will fit. Correct one was F58 AFAIK. Difference between them was in the lenght of the pole and attached mounting hardware.
See attached pics how my original one sits on its original positin.

Hi Damien

Also worth trying Mike Seer at Chrome London, he is London (UK) based and has stock - at present it appears to me to be very difficult getting parts from outside the UK

Chrome London also sells a kit to convert Becker Europa radio to blue tooth hands free etc, about £200 . It would still remain single Chanel.

I ordered one.
I hope it comes with complete wires to radio and every thing else.
Cannot tell from the description.

I have the Chrome London Bluetooth kit. Plugs into the Becker radio via the DIN plug, and I find it works well.

Hi All,

Thank you for the advice.

Pagoda113, thank you for the link. I have ordered one from them.

I would prefer an original one, but the 2050 will do until I find one.

The list of things I need is getting smaller!

Kind regards,

Damien

When I found out about this antenna, I ordered it.
But until I found out about it, I was going to put in an antenna from one of my many antennas
I have from my 126 chasis. 300sd. (1981 to 1985)
Since it is hidden no one will ever know what antenna you have.
It will work.

Received mine also. But I have a concern.
There is a green wire that I do not know where it goes on the back of the radio.
There is no place for that wire.

There were manual and automatic antennas.

The automatic ones you recognize after the aluminum body and external ears that secures the antenna to the chassis.

There were 2 models that fit:
Auta6000F58
Auta6000F108

Expect to pay +$600 for an automatic antenna

Electrically speaking the output cables are:

- Ground
- +12V going thru a fuse.
- +12V output trigger signal from the back of the radio. That is usually a spade connector
- RF wire; this one is easy to recognize
