Side vent lever for 1964 230 SL

Hi. Excellent forum. I am looking for the original black plastic vent lever that has the thumb imprint that fits into the side chrome vent levers on the driver/passenger side for our 230SL manufactured in May 1964. I tried Authentic Classics, Neimoöller Benz, and the MB Classic Center. The schematics show the original lever and I was sent the one currently offered with the flat end to grab. Thank you.

It is A 113 833 00 40 (does not matter left or right), ca $30-40, 72 hours availability at dealers here in Europe.

There is the same part number for 113042 and 113044. If the lever is changed - this is what you will get form Mercedes.

Thank you so much for the reply and information.  Niemoeller in Germany has the lever listed in their schematics with the original lever with the thumb "grab" handle that is positioned vertically but I was sent the lever that the majority of parts suppliers online that has the "flat" grab handle.  The picture with the handle with the green background is what has been sent to me and the picture of the handle with the vent is the original of what I am looking for.  Thank you.

Cannot be 100% sure, but it seems to me that this is what you get form Mercedes, what you have a picture of in the vent. I will check on my car tomorrow.

On the picture is what I think I bought 5-6 years ago from Mercedes.

Now, as you brought this topic up, I looked and I noticed that I have a different handle in the other vent  . Never paid attention to it...

So I will order one from Mercedes, I will be back and I can show what I got on Friday.

Hi.  Thank you for checking into this.  I'm not sure why it just isn't reproduced to the specs on the parts sheet when looking up the part number.  I like the original lever because it's of course 1) original, and 2) it matches the other levers in the dash that control the heating.  I will keep searching.  Thank you.

Well, now this is original . Part number is the same across all models of W113. They changed the design at some stage, maybe when overall design of cabin was changed. Might have fitted other models better might have been more durable or just fitted the new interior better - no idea why it changed.

Yes, maybe they wanted to "modernize" the interior  .  If the dash vent levers that are in the middle of the dash were flat like the part that is given today I most likely wouldn't mind the new levers since they would "match" better.  Thank you, again, for replying.  I'll keep looking out for a "used" one somewhere.
