What's the age of these old tools?
« on: November 19, 2021, 13:01:39 »
Hi everyone,

I have a set of old Mercedes tools and I am not sure what age they are or which model they were with.

They are mostly marked Heyco and the large tool has a Mercedes star mark. Any ideas?

Thanks, Ian

1950's or early 60's by the look of them.

Thanks, I have heard that tools were supplied from different manufacturers depending on what was available at the time. There seems to be different coloured tool bags for different years too. I'll do some more searching

Take a look at the Ponton website

http://www.mbzponton.org/valueadded/maintenance/workshop.htm - from here there are a couple of different tool kit links here is one:

Thanks everyone,

I searched the part number for the large socket which has a Mercedes Star and Klein written on it. It came up as a truck / commercial part (part number 0005813901). Not sure if this is a for a old truck, but the tool looks pretty old.

The other spanners and grips are all Heyco brand and the screwdriver is Felo. The handle is plastic, so not the oldest and one of the 3 interchangeable parts is a Torx, so can't be too old, although they are all the darker colour, which I thought were older versions.

Anyway, an interesting mix.

Does anyone know what the hooked shaped tool is, to the right of the screwdriver parts in the main picture and also the shorter tool with the open hole (underneath the allen key)?

Cheers, Ian

Does the tool with the open hole have splined teeth inside of it?
