Ok new Alternator problem

Hello all,

New problem I discovered.

1. I changed my dash lights to LED

2. When I turned ignition, the red (LED) ignition light turned red

3. Then I read that I could not use LED on the ignition red light

4. So I replaced the LED with the original light

5. And then the red light did not turn on (or very weak)

I checked the blue red wire to the instrument panel via Ohm meter -> all ok

I checked the blue wire to connector (under dash) via Ohm meter -> all ok

So now I doubt about the well being of my alternator.

What can/should I do?

How to test if the alternator will charge the battery?

How to test it works "at all"?

How your combined brains can help me further.

Easy piece of cake

To test the correct working of your alternator.

Run engine and measure voltage at the battery post. If the alternator is OK voltage should read more than 14 volts.about 14.1 or so.

If reading is marginal in 12.9 your alternator is DEAD.

A fully charged battery with engine off should read 12.6 volts.

A battery with just 12V is not enough to start a car.
