Help with dash correctness.
« on: December 22, 2021, 03:03:11 »
When I first installed my newly covered dash pads I drilled holes under the right and left corners of the dash panels as they had screws there before I had them reupholstered. While inquiring as to the correct size for the corresponding screws and grommets two knowledgeable members said they have never seen dash screws in those locations.

before I go through the expense and effort to repair or recover the holes I thought I should dig further. Below are pictures of behind the panels where they attach to the body. The left side has a nice factory looking block spacer behind the pad and the right side has what appears to be a factory threaded hole for the screw. The small left panel doesn’t have any other place To screw to the body.

Any advice or experience here is greatly appreciated.

I believe the screw for the corner pieces was originally hidden behind the leather.

That makes sense thanks gents. The dash was removed by a previous owner to repaint the metal and they put it back together with piercing the MB text. Heritage also glued the leather to the metal so I had no clue to do it otherwise.
