Head light bulb and rear brake cylinder

I should have a coulple of headlights on hand.  Haynes manual describes the bulbs (have European type) as 45/40.  What does this mean and what should I ask for at the local auto shop?

I am replacing the rear brake cylinder $125.00 C (part from the local Mercedes dealer).  I am going to save the old one and put in a rebuild kit.  Is there any off the shelf rebuild kit that will fit?

Thank you,
Rupert

Rupert,
The bulb base is type P45t aka R2 over the pond. You can fit the 45/40 watt tungsten bulbs or upgrade to halogen bulbs with the same base. I believe they are 55/50 watt or similar. The higher number is the full beam wattage while the lower is low beam.
The rear slave cylinders are 3/4 inch diameter. You may be able to buy just the rubbers at a brake specialist.
