Correct Ignition Parts for my Distributor
« on: July 05, 2022, 17:47:03 »
I am in the process of finding the CORRECT Distributor Cap, Rotor, Points and Condenser for my 1970 280SL. My distributor number is "0 231 116 062" according to the technical manual and I verified that is the number stamped on my distributor. My distributor is an aluminum body (not cast iron) also according to the technical manual. I want to order Bosch OEM parts.

I contacted the Classic Center and their quote (with the MB part numbers) was very high so I thought I would shop around and found the parts on Pelican Parts website using the MB part numbers. Pelican website states that these part numbers are only for the cast iron distributor. I called them and they confirmed that they would not work on my aluminum body distributor. I looked on Authentic Classics website and they do sell Bosch parts but their descriptions don't give me much confidence they are the correct parts for my distributor.

Can anyone tell me what the correct part numbers are for these parts and where I can get them.

Thanks in advance!

Tony

For maintenance parts (filters, cap and rotor, points, gaskets, coil etc.) I have found Autohausaz.com to have the everything needed and usually at a decent price.  And it is very descriptive if there is more than one option.  For example, see points search below, it shows for cast iron housing or for aluminum housing and also if it changed after a certain vin number.
