Front suspension spring spacer
«

I am in the process of reassembling my ‘66 front suspension. When I took it apart, there was a 1/4” plate that someone had fabricated and installed between the chase with the bolts and the springs. The BBB does not show this spacer. Any thoughts on why someone would have installed the spacer? Do you think there is any reason to reinstall the spacer?

No spacer afaik. Make sure you have the correct rubber insert. Your car should have the bigger bar and also the bigger diameter rubber.

On second thought, I remember a TV show, Phantom Works, where the guy "restored" a 230sl and ended up spacing the sway bar in order to clear the AC unit. Probably not your issue but may sure you clear everything when or if you remove the spacer.

My car had air conditioning at some point in its life. When I got the car the compressor was still attached to the engine. I plan to add the plates to my box of stuff to be repurposed. Thanks for your help.
