Visor Swap on Ebay
« on: June 05, 2005, 21:17:22 »
Notwithstanding Terry's recent post on ebay fraud,   here's a different twist:

It looks like a relativey low priced visor in trade for your current visors.

Auction is out of Douglasville, GA - home of Bud's Benz.

Has anyone done this before?

It's a core exchange, like you'd get with a rebuilt motor. Never done this before with a sunvisor, but it makes sense.

I emailed that guy, I asked him if I could send him my two visors and have him redo them and then send them back to me!! HE SAID SURE!! $250.00  So, I just bought 2 from Millers.  Very expensive but they are originals.  That guy on ebay said he was doing that price just to get attention and advertise his work.  That price will be history in short order!!

Here is a pair from the same seller that sold for $63.

I received the same price for repairing my pair.

This is not completely fraudulent. It is Bud's Benz attempting to appear as an individual.

Too bad the metal hardware is all cruddy!

On a different note it looks like Ray Paul of SL classics has joined the Buds Benz team.

Geez, Bud's sure doesn't have the name it once did. There was a time when they'd be throwing that name around to make you feel comfortable; now they're hiding from it. I've heard they're not what they used to be. It's a pity.

Not to take sides. I purchased a set of new sun visors from Tom At pagoden in Germany. All I had to due was send my old pair to him in exchange and the price was very reasonable for a new set that I am very happy with. All metal parts are new but the visors were half the cost of new from Mercedes-Benz.

I am just glad that whoever this person is that they have came up with a method to repair these visors and now we do not have to suffer the high prices anymore. Maybe the other guys will start to lower their prices also.

Does anyone know where I can locate a used or re-built cylinder head for a '70 280sl?

Thanks.

Richow,

Hello and welcome to the Group.  You might get more "attention" to your need of a cylinder head if you use the "Wanted To Buy" forum located here:

I just remembered I had saved this email.  (copy)
________________________________________________

Dear 3020522,

You asked:
"Nice work, is it possible to send you my two visors from my 71 280sl and have you recover them in the same color vinyl??? Mine are in pretty good shape, but not as good as your recovered ones. Mine are kind of ivory or eggshell, offwhite color. Of course I would want mine sent back to me. If yes, what would the price be and about how long would it take??? Thanks, Terry Temecula, California"

No problem. What you see on ebay this week is a promotional. This was to get interest. I can do these visors, but the cost is $250.00pr.
