Hood attachment
« on: July 13, 2022, 22:27:39 »
I have a customer who needs his hood mounting points repaired. Where can he get new nut cages and re-enforcement plates for inside the stiffener of the hood? He does not need the whole aluminum stiffener.

Thanks Tony, but I need the metal nut cage and metal re-enforcement plate which was built into the hood hinge points during fabrication at the factory. Peter K & K Manufacturing (in Sparta Michigan) is a listed on our "vendor list". They are an excellent source for all kind of parts for our cars and have an excellent catalog. They also specialize in manufacturing and suppling sheet metal floor panels and other sheet metal for many vintage Mercedes models. At one time they were an original equipment supplier to Mercedes-Benz for these replacement sheet metal parts. I have dealt with them for years, they are reliable, and knowledgeable.

Joe,

I believe that I have a pair of the repair pieces with the caged nuts. I am out of the country until the end of the week, but will locate them when I return, if you still need them.

Joe, I am almost certain that I purchased them from one of the forum members. I will try to locate the email string from that purchase.

Joe, if I recall correctly, in contrast to what others are describing, the pieces that I have are approximately rectangularly shaped ( maybe 2 x 3 inches with 2 nuts that move along a track inside of the plate. I believe the plate is to be permanently attached to the hood, but allows for adjusting the alignment. When I return, I will send you a picture of what I have to see if it will meet your needs. I want to say that I purchased the pair from Baron Youngman, but I may be mistaken as I have purchased a few items from Baron over the years.

Hello Eddie, those are exactly what I was looking for. Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. We were in a hurry and so we improvised and got it done. Thanks for the help, I would still like to know who supplies them for next time.
