Hi all,
I have recently renovated a cylinder head from a 250SE engine, my plan is to have this replacement for my 250SL and also in terms of parts investment (seeing that spare parts are constantly increasing in price).
Once pressure tested, faced and the valves full seated, i came to the point of remounting the pedestals but got stuck on the alignment. Apart from being bolted on by the main headbolts, all four pedestals have a side mounted nut which somehow could modify the Y -axis of each pedestal
Could anyone let me know the correct procedure and the torque set on these four nuts? or should these just be tightened after the camshaft is slid into place? I read on haynes manual that the pedestals should not be touched, but i had to remove them for the machine shop to work on the head properly.
Thanks for the help
Alessandro
