NO takers?

Sure, it's one of those mods that are not obvious (hides behind the full wheel cover), but adds value to your car and handling will be improved.

Most of the people on the forum have probably already bought sets from me over the years...  :-)

This one looks kind of bent up (see pic).  You might want to post a set of better pictures showing the edges, curb rash, etc.

Nothing is bent.

For those interested in buying, I can take them out of storage and provide closeups.

Have you put yours on ebay yet?   When I was selling these, usually my price was $300 per wheel plus shipping.  I sold a lot of them over many years.  Even though I had them listed on ebay, that was mostly for advertising.  I mostly sold through this forum, and a few on other forums.

Yes, but ebay charges 10% plus PayPal fees.

Thought I'd try here as well

...and you will have to pay income taxes as ebay will issue a 1099 for any amount over $600.- this new rule for 2022 eliminated a lot of hobby sales and inexpensive availability of parts.
As far as the wheels are concerned, I know there are a lot of fans of these wheels. I am not one of them. I don't really care much about unsprung weight and performance on an old car like this. I am more interested in optics and for this, the Fuchs forged alloys suit me better. Maybe that's the reason the sale takes a little.
One other thing: It is my experience that selling anything on a forum is a challenge. I am part of several specific vehicle model forums and have hardly sold anything, even rare stuff. I put it on a different outlet for the same price and it goes right away. It almost seems like your "fellow enthusiasts" do not like you to make money off them.

Interesting.  I did not know that.  Is it eBay issuing 1099 forms or Paypal?

My experience, at least with this forum, has been the opposite.  People have been happy to buy wheels from me in the past, and I certainly worked my ass off to get the wheels!  I've probably sold 10 to 15 sets over the last 15 or so years.  About half to international buyers, and more than half via this forum.  Another place to advertise is in Facebook car groups.  Although I think that is pointless if you are targeting W113 owners, as this forum is the best source of Pagoda information world-wide in my opinion.  Whenever someone posts on Facebook something about a 113, someone else refers them to sl113.org...

It is both. Although I think if it is an ebay sale, ebay will issue the 1099. Paypal will for all other sales unless it is a "friends and family" transfer. ebay has moved to "managed payments" quite a while ago, for most sellers, where your payments are no longer processed throuh Paypal but by ebay directly.

If you get a 1099 from either Ebay, paypal, venmo, etc., be sure to just fill this out:

https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8949.pdf

for what you paid for the part(s) you sell.

If anyone in British Columbia Canada is interested there are a set of 4  5.5" alloys on Craigslist for $CDN 600.00 which at $150 a piece does seem like a bit of a deal.  They have been listed for a while and even come with hubcaps.    They are the hot ticket for 190sl's as well.    You could probably offer a bit less and get them.

https://vancouver.craigslist.org/van/pts/d/new-westminster-southwest-mercedes/7551210908.html

The 5.5" are not as hard to find here in Vancouver and usually about 1/3 the price of the 6" if you can find them.

Now if they only made the alloys in 15"....

Haha. I think you are right in some manner. I've only sold periodic bits and pieces from leftover projects. Nothing on the forums here. Zero. But, on eBay? Distributor, fuel pump, my old driver's door and so much more.

But then again, have you noticed that anytime there's nearly anything for sale, that people are pointing to, they feel the need to say something to the effect of "no affiliation with the seller" or some such, as if knowing the seller were a bad thing?

For Hobby sales, the IRS will not accept this. Only if you have a business. Unfortunately, they will not allow you to deduct any cost from your sales amount.

You sure?

You can try it. I am pretty sure, it will not work. The issue was discussed on the ebay seller forum quite extensively.

Dan,  Were those 15" alloys with hub caps made for the 600?  Or maybe the 6.3?
