Please help
« on: December 17, 2022, 06:44:16 »
Hi Guys,
Could someone please give me an idea of the length of these rods/bars. I have converted my auto 250SL to manual and need to make up the bars.  I realise they are not really essential, but I would like to install them in any case.
Much appreciated and complements of the season to all.

You actually need those rods to keep the shifter box from moving around while shifting. I would try to find used ones. Same parts used in sedans from that time period.

I tried to measure from under the car but couldn't do it..
There must be good used ones out there but I'm not sure they are identical to sedan parts because they have a 113 number: 113 260 05 89 possibly superseded to 113 260 08 89 (from Niemoller catalog).
It seems they'd be a little tricky to make because of the shaped end. See for example the expensive (and corroded) rods currently on ebay USA. Different examples appear to have different ends - maybe that's the difference between the 05 part and the 08 part.

Better price here:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/194279090484

they're described as in 'very good condition' but one is a little corroded - probably wouldn't matter.

Ok now here is the same person from Montreal selling the shifter tube (which I guess you already have?) under a different name:

not sure what to make of that but their ebay feedback is good for what it's worth..
