Sorry to say, it's not likely you will find a decent car within that budget.

What is "wtd" in the subject?

Scroll through several pages of our For Sale forum and read posts where people are selling cars.  Look at 20 cars minimum (and what people said about them) to get an idea of prices for various conditions of cars.  Then, find Pagodas that sold on Bring a Trailer and read the comments on those auctions.  Then, scour the internet for cars currently for sale and see how those compare to what your education tells you.

I have studied BAT for a year now, hemmings for 40 years and yes I know some go for 150k. not what Im looking for.

35k will buy a good running car needing some work. Im looking for a driver and not a trailer queen. Its doable. a little optimism please.......

can be a 230 or 250. Im not as picky as most in this genre.

‘wtb’
I think you can still find them at that price if you have the time to search. Especially if you’re prepared to consider a good non-runner tucked away in storage, and have the additional time and budget for recommissioning. Any turnkey car at that price will probably be pretty ugly.

Ok, sorry about that.  Some times we see posts like this from people who have just "found" the Pagoda and fell in love, then found our Group and asked about buying one.  Good luck with your search.
