New Printer: Your Board Hard At Work For You, the Members
« on: February 08, 2023, 14:20:37 »
Soon enough you'll see an announcement from editor JonnyB about the next edition of Pagoda World magazine.

For the 30-40% of those members so affected by troubles in receiving issue #30, March 2022, and issue #31, September 2022--both of which had small reprints to re-send missing issues out to members, we were NOT going to do this a third time. The next issue of Pagoda World, #32, is being printed by a different printer, "dropped" into the postal service in a different location, mailed with a different postage and delivery class. Thus we expect to NOT have to do any reprints of this coming issue. We expect this coming issue to run as smooth as the issues up to and including #29. Our goal is that this may be completely transparent to all the members; we are confident you'll see a beautifully edited and printed full color magazine delivered to you in a timely fashion. If you see nothing amiss, we've done our job and achieved our goal.

Today, February 8, 2023, former board member AlexD and myself are meeting at the printer in Raleigh, NC, to see the proof--a press check as it were--as well as go over the new procedures for mailing. Our change of printer, mail class, and venue was not for quality reasons (the prior printer did a fine job); nor for cost reasons (we believe we paid a fair price) but for fulfillment reasons--getting the printed copies into the hands of our members. We suffered through two consecutive, massive and costly failures. Not again.

Stay tuned for further information from the editor JonnyB as he normally does when the issue is ready to be mailed. I'm letting you know we made a process improvement after two prior failures. We tried to get to the bottom of the reason for the failures but unfortunately our attempts to glean information on why was not met with the kind of service we expected. Thus, a change was warranted.
