Has anyone put in a Chev or Ford small block V8 into one of these cars?
maybe a all alloy corvette engine with a 6 speed ?

OH MY NO!!!!  If you want a chevy buy a Vette, but Please do not ruin a classic engineering wonders by installing an inferior grade drive train

There's nothing in the first 3000 Yahoo posts on this. I know there are a fair number of Mercedes V8 engine conversions out there (there was even a Factory-experimental one). Having said that (and supporting Daryl's statement), it must have been done at least a couple of times ?
