There are usually two sources for the Clunk.

One is the Trunk mounted differential support - if metal to metal - it sometimes clunks.  Not a difficult job. 

The other is a tubular bushing on the differential — it’s roughly 20cm long  and about 6cm diameter (metal & rubber) — I still have not replaced this one as from everything I read - the differential may need to come out — this is a big job for my capabilities and waiting until I am really ready.

Rear axle has to removed so it can be worked on. I would go through the entire axle while it's out.
