Dear Gary,

I am new to the club and applied for the Full Membership.

I am looking for a few items for my 1971 w113, for which was originally purchased by my dad.

Is there a way of posting a question to the whole club.

I also have a few questions about an option that is not in any materials, but on my car and I have never seen in any picture ever over my years of looking on the internet or the sl113 club.

I am a retired certified Mercedes Technician and have also owned, restored and sold over the years, many Mercedes models.

The car was originally ordered for Ziggy Benzel, the owner of Benzel Busch Mercedes in Englewood, New Jersey for his wife as a gift. She hated it when he gave to her and that is how my dad bought the car. They were friends, so that’s how dad was able to buy it.

Ziggy asked the factory to put in options that the factory did not offer if you were just a regular customer and could not order.

He also either put on options/accessories he could put on or gave my dad the items that his dealership was able to acquire or install.

If you know of any of the rarest items, I would like to see if I have it.

It’s easier for me to know what I need to look for in the garage attic, then trying to explain what I have or take pictures of it.

I might even have doubles.

Looking forward to hearing from you…

Thank You,

Scott

Scott,

Hi.  You made an almost identical post in another thread here:  https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=34966.msg270157#msg270157

I replied to your post, but don't see a response.  Let us know what you really need.

I do see you ask:  "Is there a way of posting a question to the whole club."
The forum is divided up into "boards" that are somewhat topic specific.  Body, Drive train, Events, For Sale, etc....   When you are viewing the list of discussions or topics in a board, there is a "New Topic" button you can click to start your own discussion topic.  Just try to keep your discussion thread focused on one thing.  Don't make a new topic in the drive train board to ask about a transmission issue, what wax or polish to use on the paint, and to tell that you have something to sell.  Those should all be their own topics in their appropriate boards.  Hopefully this becomes natural in a short time.

Welcome  Scott.

I have a 1971 280SL silver/black, and I am looking for a glove box including the interior light and map light.
Please let me know if you have one.

Thanks,
Jim Murphy

Scott,

It seems that you want us to provide a list of all optional equipment and accessories that could have been factory and/or dealership installed.  Is that correct?  Then, you would sort through your attic or garage and hope to find them.  Is that the idea?

That is the idea. It would be fantastic and if I have any doubles I could offer it to the group.

Here are factory installed options, and the corresponding codes that would be found on your data card.
https://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/OptionCodes

Do you have a data card for your Pagoda?  If anything was custom ordered through the factory, it would have been recorded.
Here's general info on data cards:

Dealership installed accessories would only have been tracked on the original "window sticker" as far as I know.  Most common dealer installed accessories are air conditioning and radios.  Accessories would not be on the factory data card.
