Speedometer Dial
« on: August 28, 2023, 07:31:10 »
My speedometer dial has a silver disk (about 13 mm in diameter) at the zero Km/H location.  It otherwise looks original.  See picture.

Any idea what this might be?

My car is a 1963 230 SL that otherwise seems pretty original.

Looks like it's from the centre of the dial

Of course.  Thank you.   Must have fallen off.  Any idea how this is attached at the center of the dial?

My guess would be either a press fit or some glue.

Very fragile metal underneath, same as the needle, I would go for a drop of glue...

It is originally glued. A bit of clear silicone works well. Be careful to use some gloves handling the disc. It is raw, machine turned aluminum and the oil from your skin will discolor it if not handled correctly.
