Rear side markers with one plug
« on: September 05, 2023, 15:11:11 »
I have one female plug and two male plugs for my rear side lights. Do I need to make a jumper to tie two into one?

Dear Mr. Henderson

Normally those side markers can be connected to a port available on the taillight housing of each side.

Check out your taillights backside (the part that goes to the trunk side)

The connector that has a female 2 port terminal on the harness, normally feeds energy to the light that is mounted on the top of the trunk lid.  That is a circuit which is hot all the time.

Dear Mr. Henderson

Open the 2 prong connector and see which is the cable color coding to verify its functionality.

Also make a test with a multimeter to see under which circumstances that plug has energy.

In that way you can come to a conclusion of which is its function and where should be connected.

It could be also that this cable branch is intended to bring energy to the license plate light on the bumper, as it has a rubber boot around.

That is why I like to put labels to every cable end on all the harnesses that come to my hands.

Thanks, did not see where the plugs went in to, and my manual didn't describe it.
