Automatic 1st gear selection
« on: October 20, 2023, 08:40:54 »
Would it be possible (has any body done it ) on a 69' automatic to make the car pull away in first gear all the time without having to manually select 1st ?

Mine does it randomly sometimes and having done a diff change from 4.08 to 3.46, which works great for cruising, but would quite like the extra grunt pulling away especially on gradients.

Hello Ray, i know very little about transmission, but i found this post

https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=4914.msg30619#msg30619

It's not exactly automatic, need to press a button wired in circuit with the kickdown switch, but saves using the kickdown, or selecting 2 and then manually changing the gear

Hi Bob,

Many thanks, I will message Tom with a few more questions.

Did you see the 1965 SL number plate auction ?
