M110 Engine Oil Leak
« on: January 08, 2024, 14:47:22 »
hello knowledgeable fellow members.

Advice needed please. I have an annoying oil leak on a low mileage 280SL (107 series) with the M110 DOHC engine. The oil is seeping between the cam housing and the cylinder head in the spark plug recesses, only slightly but it is leaking. The cam housing has been removed - twice - and a new gasket fitted both with additional sealer and as per the workshop manual, without sealer. Before I dismantle it again for the third time am I missing something here?, there are lots of threads on the internet regarding these oil leak problem areas but nothing advising different to what has already been attempted.

any advice welcomed.

Also, does anyone - preferably UK - have for sale or would lend me for a charitable donation a Mercedes valve spring compression tool part number 110589046100
