Anyone know what this is, or if it's original?
« on: February 07, 2024, 13:45:30 »
I have this box attached in the passenger footwell. It rather looks aoriginal since the panel it's attached to is and most of the interior is also not touched. I'm not sure what it is - I guess it could be for road maps or such but looks rather shallow to be practical.

It occured to me that it might be option 226 - the mounting hardware for the Warning Triangle, which my car came with (I'd have expected this in the trunk, but I don't see it there even though the trunk in my car is very un-messed with and still has the clips under the spare with the tire iron and wheel centering piece.)

Does anyone have a picture of option 226?
Does anyone know what this box is / have it too?
Thanks,
Rich

That’s a holder for the first aid kit - not common.

You will find photos on this site.

Hi,
This box is for the first aid kit as mentioned by Kampala, option code 222, see https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=37540.msg274386#msg274386.

Hi,
I found this in equipment manuals of those days but couldn't find anything about warning triangle.
A member of German Pagodentreff posted this solution.

I can remember those small first aid kits about the size of the one in the  black and white picture when I was a kid. Am almost sure you may find a first aid box to fit easy enough if you look in the right places.

I have in my 72 220D First aid kit.
It is a green box and I do not know if it is  the same one for the 280SL.
My 280SL does not have one.
So, yes that box is for a first aid kit.

The holder is for the first aid kits for sure, but not mounted on W113. These were first aid kits for the W107.
