How to free seized drums (230SL)

Hello I continue to work on my 65 barn find 230SL which the wheels are seized

How do I free the rear drum brakes? There are two nuts on the inner side of the wheel am I to turn them inwards (ie the one that’s at the front turns counter clockwise and the one that’s at the rear turns clockwise) in order to slack off the drum?

IIC, the fittings are cams so it doesn't matter which direction they are turned.  You need to find the "low spots."

Thinking about this, it may not be a problem with the adjusters.  The shoes can be stuck from rusted cylinders or a plugged lines or hoses.  Suggest you open the bleeder.  If that doesn't help, disconnect the metal line from the cylinder.

Also check that the parking brake cable isn't sticking.
