Condenser issue

I had a short drive this Sunday but had an issue : no more ignition.... i had a look in the delco and found the wire showed in the photo below disconnected .
But the issue was the condenser. My friend who was following me to the Sunday meeting in his 203 Peugeot cabriolet (  ) had in his trunk a spare condenser. And luckily it worked fine . But my question is about the wire inside the delco is it normal to have it disconnected  ?
May be it's an earth wire not useful in my case?
