Plastiguage- correct tolerance?
« on: July 20, 2024, 18:28:54 »
Reassembling my 280 SL block and cannot seem to find what the tolerance(s) should be for the main bearings and rod bearings when fully torqued to spec. Would appreciate any help finding that info.

hello JZ, tolerances for the main and rod bearings when fully torqued are located here: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Engine/Start?action=download&upname=MBEngineSpecs.pdf.

The table at the bottom of page 5-266 shows clearance specs for the main bearings and connecting rod bearings. respectfully,, Charles

Thank you Charles. After getting this reply from you I revisited the Engine section in the Technical Manual and see the link there at the very top of the page.  I see my mistake now. Greatly appreciate your help.  jz
