Alternator upgrade

I am having trouble finding a Bosch AL72 alternator here in the UK. I believe that my 35amp is Bosch number 0120400532, is there an equivalent number for the al72x.
Was the al72x fitted to later Mercs, if so which ones, maybe I can get one from a salvage yard.

Dear Mr. Gordon
I have checked the specs and photos of that Bosch AL72X alternator on various sites and Imthink it will work perfectly for your pagoda as a substitute for the older AL72.
This AL72X is for external regulation, as your original one. Make sure to install a new voltage regulator at the same time as a precaution.
You may have some changes at the kind of connector for the external voltage regulator, but the number of leads is the same as well as cable names. So for a good electricians that will be no challenge.
For the voltage regulator go for the BERU which is reasonable priced. (50 $ max)
Best regards

Thankyou Leo for your response. I would like to avoid the customs and freight costs of importing from the US into the UK hence my question, was the 55amp alternator fitted to later Mercedes? If I new the Bosch part number for the 55amp alternator that would be a great step forward.
Further help would be appreciated . Thankyou Gordon

Yes, they were. Also a lot written about it here if you search.
Why do you think you need a 55 amp one?

Thanks, the Pelican list is great in listing Mercs with similar alternators. Reason for upgrading is 35 amps doesn’t seem to give much margin if driving with lights, wipers, fan, music etc on and I might fit an electric radiator fan at a later date
