Hose clamps
« on: March 03, 2025, 00:41:30 »
There are a lot of posts on hose clamps but I'm having trouble finding a distributor that is not silly money. Does anyone have a supplier?  A suggestion for Pete Lesler sounded promising but I have no contact details.
Thanks!

Go to the 190SL Club Website. Click on Technical information then scroll down to hose clamps. They have a lot of information on those early clamps. You can get your education about clamps there. It even shows how to use the complex band stye clamp. You do not need to be a member. Most types are the same as used on the W113 cars. You just need to identify the ones you need for the Pagoda. You can research that on this site. Once you get the information you can find the clamps from different sources. Pete Lesler, a member on this group, sells a complete set for a reasonable price and he will even supply information on where they go for your specific year Pagoda. It will vary depending on the year slightly. He has done the hard research work and this might be your best resource. Otherwise, if you have the time to invest, many other suppliers have the clamps at various prices, including the MB dealer, since some are still available from the factory. Almost all the suppliers listed on this site have some or all of them. Prices will vary widely! I would definitely try to reach Pete.

Thanks for the in-depth answer Joe.
Pete doesn't look like he is active here anymore (says he's a guest and I can't PM him on W113SL).
Does anyone have an alternate contact for Pete?

Yes, Pete is a good man, but he has had some serious health problems in recent years. Hope he is doing better.

Last I knew Pete split his time between Florida and Put-In-Bay, Ohio. He no longer provides the clamps.

Another good source is Authentic Classics.

The Norma clamps are the ones I used to replace all my hose clamps. I had so many varieties and wanted to make them all the same.
I purchased mine at Authentic Classics because they sell a complete set with all the various sizes. 95% accurate and George sent me the ones that were missing or the wrong size no charge.

All Noma hose clamps are available At belmetric.com.
They also have good pricing on all their products.
Just look at all the screws they have. Yellow zinc, stainless etc.

Thanks everyone.
I went to a wrecker and got loads of clamps. I'm still in need of some sizes but I'll be able to fill in the gaps from some of the suppliers mentioned.

You SHOULD be able to go to a local supplier in Australia. The “inappropriate” and “wrong” hose clamps are what have been referred to as “fat-a** American hose clamps”; most European style clamps should be easily and readily available everywhere but the USA.

I have lots of original clamps now. Especially 25mm. I'm in need of several 46 or 47mm ones. I'm interested in swapping if someone has original ones to trade as the new replacements aren't quite the same. I have some slighty newer ones with the rolled edges too.
I'm in Australia at the moment but I'm travelling to the US in a week. I'll also post in the wanted section.
