Fuel Tank to Evaporative System Canister Lines
« on: September 27, 2024, 22:13:18 »
I have a 1970 LHD 280 SL with the large evap canister.

I'm replacing all the fuel lines in and out of it to eliminate the fuel odor in the trunk and passenger compartment.

There are two outlets on the fuel tank that connect to the evap canister. One on either side of the fuel filler neck.

I read in a post that one is for fuel expansion to the evap canister and one is for return to the fuel tank.

Unfortunately I did not record which line went where on the evap canister when I removed the old lines.

One connection at the canister is lower than the other so I assume this is the return line. Is this right?

Which connection on the fuel tank (driver's side or passenger's side) is for the return; for expansion?

Thanks,

Paul

Hello Paul, looking at the pictures of the vapour tank in the tech manual, it looks like you're correct, the right side line is the vapour feed from the top of the fuel tank and the left line is the return to the bottom of the fuel tank
