Not sure if you have an early car with the upright spare but statistically that is unlikely so…

You mean this?

I think they are quite widely available so your best bet may be that rather than seeking a used one for less money. Though someone here may have one stashed somewhere.

Hi,
there are 2 different mats:
- rubber mat for trunk, early models with spare wheel standing: A113 684 00 04
- rubber mat for trunk for lying spare wheel: A113 684 01 04

Hi James,
Thanks for your kind reply,
Yes that is correct one for my 1970 280SL, actually i have seen many aftermarkets including this one which i am sure they have a better quality than others, just hope to find an original one rather than an aftermarket.
Thanks again

Hi Wre,
Yes mine is the second one and i am aware of that.
Found one brand new in Germany for 800 Euro but prefer to look at it up closely.
Thanks a lot

Hi, my personal 2 cents,
I would not use the original rubber mat, as condensation forms underneath and then the sheet rust faster.

Hi,
You can sell your original mat to me if you don't use it lol.
But if your trunk seal is good there shouldn't be any form of condensation.
By the way i was thinking of a thick black carpet material to be cut and embroidery border instead of rubber which looks great.
Cheers

I am not sure if condensation depends on seal quality, I would have thought it is not. As WRe is saying: you will have more condensation with rubber mat on the floor.

I understand the need to have the original rubber mat (I was lucky to still buy it from Mercedes for about $100 at that time), but you may want to consider packing it and putting it on the shelf and use the carpet in the trunk.

In any case - the prices will be high for an original one...

As for water presence in the trunk (not from condensation), my suspects would be seal, emblems, lock and the star. Well, assuming there are no holes in the floor.

you were lucky to get a new one for $100, the only one i found it is $800.
But beside of the originality i want it to looks more beautiful and thinking of a thick black carpet or coco mat which is the best choice for now.
