Chain casing oil galley grub screw
« on: January 14, 2025, 20:20:58 »
Hello Everyone and Happy New Year

There are two oil passage ways and three grub screws in our engines.  Two at the back and one at the front in the chain casing.

My question is, this one in the front does not really seal anything because the passage way is blocked by the outlet of the oil pump. Now rather than (or apart from sealing anything), could it be that the screw actually interferes with the upper oil pump shaft and secures it by putting pressure on the outlet channel of the oil pump and closing any gaps?

And if this is so, how much should I tighten this screw? Do I need to feel it to interfere with the oil pump? Does it help in improving pressure?

Any experience would definitely help.

Thanks
