Some of these parts are for 190SL but all are welcomed. I got one of the very first sets of rear 113 half quarters for a customer in Toronto. He thought they were very high quality.
They come powder coated not painted black and  I think they're made in Poland or East Germany. The quality is very good though.

Being one of Tim's dealers we've worked on a few projects together. Very nice folks over there and all of them long time friends.

Is it worthwhile to use that patch 1/4 panel part ? Its quite a bit cheaper than the full panel but would irt cost more to fit ?

...ALWAYS speak to these guys first.  While I agree with Dan's assessment, it was K&K themselves that told me the 280SL gas tanks don't fit and leak, and their reproduction grill surrounds don't fit either...so make sure that what you want actually fits--but they'll be the first to tell you.  If these parts DID fit and were available when I needed them, I would have saved thousands of $$$.  Alas I had to go with the real thing. :(

Tim is a straght up guy. He'll always tell you the truth even if it's not what you want to hear.

The 1/4 patch pannel is near perfect. A good body shop should have no problem fitting it to your car. I'd think it would be less work than a full replacement and you wouldn't loose the trunk gap fitting.
I'm not a body man though.

I agree with Dan-- I received this rear 1/4 patch panel from K&K recently, and it seems to be a really good fit.

Now my dilemma centres on whether to attempt the bodywork myself or not...  I'm itching to start cutting and welding!  Painting, however, is a whole different matter...

How much should something like this cost? (lead-filling the patch joint, matching paint to existing-- moss green metallic, good workmanship, etc)  Perhaps I should just have the welding done by the same guy who paints... (no room for excuses then). Any good body shop recommendations in/around Austin?

Hello,
I agree and have also known Tim since the early 80's. He almost came down to the Tech Session this year. He was not aware of this group but when he found out he wanted to meet everyone and share a little of his knowledge and experience.

Be sure to tell them your with the W113 Pagoda SL Group. I believe he may offer support through paid advertising in the near future.

Tim just bought a huge building 1/2 hour away from his shop, took it all apart and is now putting it back together again on site. They plan to sell their house and move on site as well.

Let's undertand something here. If it wasn't for Tim Kidder there would be VERY few 190SL's still in running condition today. Because of his efforts there might be 4 or 5 thousand running or at least fixable enough to be used.
The same could happen to 113's some day if the factory stops making parts or continues to increase pricing beyond what makes sense to restore a rough car. Tim doesn't post here - he's far too busy as are just about all the really major players. BTW, I have 3 Russian motor bikes with side cars ( his stuff ) I need to move.
