Distributor vacuum advance pipe
« on: September 09, 2005, 10:54:32 »
I am finally getting ready to start my car after rebuilding my cylinder head.  The problem with waiting so long is that I don't remember where everything goes.  I installed the distributor cap and plugs and was trying to sort out the distributor vacuum advance piping system. I found it at the distributor end, but I could not find a location that would accept the vacuum pipe.  I don't think it is supposed to just hang out in space.

I would appreciate information about where the vacuum pipe intake point is.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ken,

There was some discussion of vacuum take-off in this thread

Look for Naj's photos about half way down, and also my response a few posts later (since I also have a '66, though it seems it may not be completely stock in the distributor area).  Once you figure this out, perhaps you'd let us know what you find; I'll be curious to see if it's the same as mine (# 015461).

David,

Thanks a lot!  It is amazing how easy it is to find information through this website.

My car's vacuum pick-up point is the same location as yours is using.

I have S/N 10-016445 and it has the Bosch 0231 116 051 JFUR 6 distributor.
