Plastic gear selector plate
« on: September 12, 2005, 03:05:01 »
Now my car is fully UK registered and ready for my 3 weeks vacation next week 8) , I am looking at the bits that need tidying up.
The plastic trim which goes under the chrome auto gate, is very tatty.
My regular dealer who does specialise in classic Mercedes, tells me these are no longer available.
Is this the case or can anyone advise where these can be obtained from.
Thanks

Hi Rob,

Several years ago when my car was restored, 2001, I bought one of these either from Miller's or Bud's.  Check with these guys, or the usual gang of suspects!  Note that the first one I bought was around $8.00 or so, very cheap.  Then, in 2002, my car had an "unfortunate occurance" with the transmission which, alas, destroyed this part.

In the ensuing repair, the local mechanic sourced one from another place, this one with a light.  It cost something like $60.00.  Ouch.  And, the light is most annoying, about the brightest thing in the cockpit at night.  It's on my list of things to remove, but I don't often drive at night so it does not get high on the priority list.
