Rubber Trunk Mat - Early 230SL
« on: October 06, 2005, 08:06:46 »
Dear Group:

Does anyone have a source for a new old stock or reproduction rubber trunk mat for a 230SL?  I have found that the rubber mat for cars that have the spare tire mounted flat on the floor of the trunk is available. The early cars with the spare tire that sits upight in the side well uses a larger mat with a different shape.  The mat that is available can be cut to fit but I looks bad and leaves much of the trunk floor visible.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Richard,
I have a perfect trunk mat in my 1963 230SL that I'm selling.  I can take it out and get the dimensions for you and you can cut yourself a new one.

Walter,

Thank you for your kind offer.  I also have an original mat that fits an early 230SL but it is very worn and torn in several areas.  I had hoped that someone knew where OEM or repo. ones were sold at.  If no one knows of a source - I will do as you recomend - cut some rubber to fit.
