Carpet Question
« on: October 27, 2005, 20:57:17 »
I have two ugly speakers on the rear compartment that I want to get rid off.  Does anyone know where I can buy the carpet for just that area? I understand that they normally come as a set but mine are still very new and I just need that bit for the compartment.  Thank you.  Still trying to locate the third hole for the seat belt.

Hello Eryck,

If you have a 230 before serial 012467 and still have the original two-tone black and white (= light grey) square weave carpet with rubber mats in the footwell areas, just forget it! This carpet is nowhere available in the world (sick!) It was replaced in  August 1965 when the new W108 sedan was introduced with the all-black or charcoal-colored square weave carpet. That latter material is still available today in different qualities. GAHH in North Hollywood, CA or other well-known companies can deliver that to you.

Better give your ole carpet to me for a few bucks and go and get a new one... :D  :)  :) .
Just kidding, don't worry. ;)
Do you have a pic, then we can confirm.

All the best,

I also have rear speakers in the horse shoe top. How to I fill these holes since they were cut outand recarpet this area? Is the horseshoe still availible?

Bob - thanks for that, now I know what to call it, horse shoe top! We seem to have the exact same problem.  Let's see how best to fix it!

Achim, I will try to take some shots and post it.  Maybe my description is not right since I don't think I have the originals.  The car is pretty original but not THAT original.  Thanks again.
