Wiper wash nozzle hose problem
« on: November 28, 2005, 10:13:33 »
Hello all,
Now the big Holiday weekend is over and many of us are still fresh from the heavy meals and eager work on our pagodas.
I wonder if one could tell me how to re-install the hose for the windshield washer.  I pulled it all out 5 years ago to clean up everything and install new lines, but now I dont know how it goes back in.
Hopeless,

Walter,

From what I remember, you'll have to take of the fresh air scoop below the windshield and also the fresh air flap,
You can then thread the hose thru the firewall and pull it thru the airbox.
May have to remove the fresh air filter screen - not sure.

Hi Walter,
Here are some photos of mine - the hose goes from the pump through the firewall alongside the hood release cable, then comes back out through a small hole behind the lhs hinge mount for the fresh air flap.

THanks Dave and Naj,
I have removed the cowl and grille and then the flap and filter.  I found a little bit of dirt down there and vacuumed it all out.  Including all the way over to the corners where the windshiled posts are.  Not too dirty for a 5k mile car.  The holes were found easily and using a new set of rubbers and then routing the hose through.  It all went in easily.
Now the next question, the washer bottle hanger.  I have two kinds, one is the correct one as seen in many of the engine bay pictures, but the other is a two hooker(like a fintail) but here's the catch: It has a 113 # on it.  #113 860 00 14 on 2 stickers with the MB logo.  Not sure if I want to use that one.  Any clues?
Thanks,
Walter Klatt

Walt, I am not sure about the numbers on the hanger, as I do not have my parts book with me. The correct hanger should only engage the bottle at the rear bottle hook. I will send you a 280SL reference photo (from the 69 brochure) as a separate e-mail.

that part may be specific to the right hand drive cars - does it look like the ones in these rhd pics?

I think Dave B has it correct. I looked at my parts books last evening and the number I had (this was the reprint of the 250SL-280SL big parts book) was 112 860 00 14, which could be a typo for the 112 (?). The same part was also shown in the illustrated parts catalog books for the 230SL. Engine bay photos show the two hooker for a RHD car, with the hook for the LHD car mounted to the brake booster.

Dave, Johnny,
Wow thanks, the pics of the right hander SL is exactly the bracket that I have with the new MB stickers on it(anyone need it?). Last night I installed the single hook one for the left handers and it all works well now.  Now need to figure out the wiring, as I accidently omitted the wires during the conversion to diesel.  No biggie there.
THanks for your help again!
