Floor panel update/gas pedal bracket
« on: November 14, 2005, 12:25:21 »
Ordered a new lower fire wall panel from K&K and discovered that the section near the gas pedal is off set slightly to mate with the floor panel as it raises up maybe 1/2inch to meet the trans tunnel.  This mostly took car of the alignment issue with the fire wall and floor.  I've now completed installation of a new drivers side fire wall, floor pan, frame rail, seat mounting cross panel and the flat floor panel which goes under this section.  After POR15 painting and seam sealing I started laying down dynamat and remembered the gas pedal bracket.

I have a new question concerning mounting of the bottom gas pedal bracket.  That whole area of my car was rusted and repaired badly so I don't have a reference for where to place it.  Due to its shape I have a pretty good idea of where it goes and I was looking for confirmation dimensions from anyone in the group.  Can anyone offer location details?

Thanks,

Jeff C.

Hello Jeff,
Use the original gas pedal opening in the floor mat to locate the pedal.

The bottom C/L of the pedal is 14" from the left frame rail and 21 1/2" foward of the front seat rail.
 That is x/y location..measure w/carpet.

Thanks Arthur and Joe!

Bracket is now welded in place.  Now all I need is a new gas pedal.  My old one was rusted very badly and there is nothing left to attach to the new bracket.  Your comments are always appreciated.

Arthur, do you mean carpeted seat rail and frame rail? (but without the drivers carpet in?)...

Yes .. Both rail measures reference points [ X and Y ] are with carpet.... so , if he has the rails w/o carpet, he adds that thickness to my measures , as my measures are w/carpet..
