You might try Bud's Benz for a new, correct genuine MB part. They usually stock them as do several other MB parts places.

http://www.budsbenz.com/ is one place to start.

I recently got a new and correct right side mirror from Mike at Miller's.  The MB mirrors are out there, and as I recall not too expensive.

Tom beat me to it, but I just installed passenger side mirror on 280.  Got it from Millers Incorporated

$95 and it came 2 days.... scary part was drilling the holes.

Dick -- I'm glad to read you got the new mirror installed.  I recall well & fondly the three of us (you, David & yours truly) discussing the details & benefits of R H door mirrors.

Nice improvement for safety, eh?  Especially when the soft top is up.

Tom..
I'm still trying to adjust to the new look (no pun) of the car with the added mirror.  I also replaced the driver side mirror glass and purchased new eyeglasses.... the three combined makes a huge difference.

Next step, working with David Pease, is to have a convex glass made to overlay the right side mirror to give a wider angle of view.

Tom, start planning our next trip... never too early.

We'll forgive you Dick, it wasn't much of a pun anyway.

The right hand side mirror is a wonderful thing to have and the door already has a doubler installed. The location will be the same as on the driver's door (at least on my 280SL). But these mirrors come with a flat glass. I wanted a convex glass like on my newer cars: Therefore I bought a convex truck mirror. That is a very common part. It was large enough to cut out the Mercedes mirror shape. A glass shop cut it and ground it to the same size. They were quite apprehensive doing it, but I assured the owner I wouldn't seize all his assets if he broke the mirror. Now I have a convex mirror and it works great. Looks good too. Makes the car look symetrical. But wouldn't you know: I found a convex mirror in the junk yard. Nobody can tell me where it came from. They just had it. I took it to the Mercedes Dealer and asked. They didn't know. A mystery! Yes, it was in a W113044 frame, but for the L.H. side, but other models also had that squarish shape: 280SEL 4.5, 108 068,018, 067. Wanna picture?

I purchased a right side rear view mirror from Tom Hansen at Caliber Motors in California. With our 10-15% discount they beat any price around. I paid $59.86 (+shipping) for the mirror in June of 2004.  Now, Tom is no longer with Caluber, but there's another fellow there, I think his name is Joe. And he's not only friendly and helpful, he helps out with the prices too. So, if you're still looking for the mirror, give the guys at Caliber a call.

Installing it was a breeze. It's not as easy to adjust it, as the power mirrors in my '94 Explorer, but, it's still pretty cool. Shame that they didn't make it with convex glass. The mirror is really not that helpful. I have it on there because I like the symetry.

If someone buys the passenger side mirror for $59 (I paid $95) I'm going to be really upset with myself....

I wonder if they will accept my Australia Qld MB Club membership?
I will ask.
