From the looks of the engine bay I'd say it was originally white.  I emailed the seller requesting info from the data tag but never got a reply.

Call me crazy, but it's kind of neat in that color, maybe if you lived in Miami?

If by saying "Original" you mean that you won't find another one like it, then Yes it sure is original.

That black one is fantastic !!

The other one is simply wild, I'm glad I've seen it though, at least it has prepared me somewhat in case I ever see it in the flesh, which is unlikely ......thank God !!

Looks like the original color was of the white varietal (see inner fender wells of engine compartment).

Love the black one too...that shop in Oregon always has pristine autos...and you pay dearly for them!

I have e-mailed more people showing their cars, as they are always exceptionally nice!  I purchased my 250SL and prior 1956 Lincoln from Oregon.  Both cars have near perfect original interiors, probably due to the lack of sun (and being garaged since new as well).  I will always look for any future cars from this part of the country!

That black & grey combo is a lovely one.

I felt lucky to have found my 280SL in Oregon (in the mid-80s).  The car had spent its first couple of years in Beverly Hills and after that, until I found it, in Eugene, OR.  I agree that the Northwest can be a good place to get 'em.

It does seem like Oregon is a good source, I noticed this one on ebay recently as well.

Although I have to say, it's funny how often you see both the manual and the automatic transmissions listed as "rare."

I know it is hard to tell the colors from a computer monitor, but I looked through the MB paint code books and found what might be close to the "original" color. DB213 Mother of pearl green. Also on my screen the fender wells and dash appeared to be the same as the outside.

Jonny,

The dash, yes, but the engine bay inner fender areas appear different to me in this link posted by nate.  Also, not only do different computer video cards and montios display colors differently, but not all people see colors the same.  I'm red/green color blind, which explains why I thought the car was a very light blue, but you came up with a light green color code.  I don't see the green in it!

My father was Red/green color blind too. So when we repainted cars they usualy ended up getting painted blue. 904 Dunkelblau was his favorite.

I was going by the color chip sample that I had that appeared to match the color as shown on the monitor. Just another reason why you need to look at a car in person.
