Non-113 part number
« on: December 22, 2005, 21:05:32 »
A friend has two NOS chrome grilles from what he believes is a 50's era 220 sedan.  The chrome surrounds and the mesh grille are still in their factory wrapping.  He'd like to seel them but without knowing for sure what car they're for, that would be difficult.  I tried to contact the Classic Center without success.  I am wondering how I could match the part number to the correct model.

The part number is 10-1208880115. Anyone know how I can get some help on this?  Thanks

Raymond,
If the grilles are from the 1950's you might have better luck by contacting Jim Axman of the 170/220 website.
He can give you a better sense of direction than we can.
His website is:  www.170220.com
Give him my regards!

The 10 may be a plant or manufacturer code. If the part number is
120 888 01 15
the 120 would identify a W120, which was the model 180 and 180D built 1955 to 1962. Of course, possibly the grille could also be applicable to other models of the same period, e.g., a model 220; MBUSA Classic Center, Paul Heule or Tom Hanson should be able to tell you the exact applicability.
