Chances are, it's 568/Signal Red. That seems to be the classic "resale red" on a Pagoda.

Hard to tell from the picture for sure, but I would agree, 568 Signal Red.

Hi Mal,
I have to agree with Jonny B and Douglas. Definetly 568.

Hi Guys,

Having just repainted Carling this fetching colour, I can vouch for 568. Resale, my hat!  Never!!  Call it what you like, I never go out without several honks, waves, thumbs up, etc.  Maybe it's Douglas' suggested signature "Audrey" scarf and the red perforated leather driving gloves that give the full effect!

Now if I could just locate that 3.27 diff...

This is a bit scary, four forum members agreeing on one thing!

On the 1st sight I thought it could also be 519. But second view makes 568 more realistic.
So, we are already 5 forum members who agree on 1 thing.

Thank you all. I am nearing the completion of the restoration of my 280SL, and it is color choosing time.
I bought Black leather interior, gray carpet  and a black top from GAHH.
What exterior color goes with this beside White or Black??
Any Suggestions!
Best Regards

Originally?  Well, our database shows this for 201 black leather:
http://www.sl113.org/data/show_table.asp?table_name=usr_color_code_leather

Hardtop - Softtop - Body
040 - 872 - 717
040 - 872 - 670
040 - 872 - 050
040 - 872 - 542
040 - 872 - 180
462 - 872 - 462
040 - 872 - 567

Paint color codes (hardtop and body):
http://www.sl113.org/data/show_table.asp?table_name=usr_paint_codes

Soft top codes:
http://www.sl113.org/data/show_table.asp?table_name=usr_soft_top_codes

The 542 dark red might be really nice with black leather.
The 462 beige metallic would be sharp.
The 567 maroon metallic would be interesting, I've never seen it.

Malek?

Weren't you the Gentleman with the very nice fully restored blue-metallic 280 with dark blue leather and Apple I-pod? Why don't you just leave it like that - it's beautiful!
Well, probably my memories are going to fade out ....

Well, anyway ...

You can choose any colour combination you like; the color database only includes the factory suggestions for suitable combinations. However, these were only good recommendations but definitely no <<musts>> for our car.  ;) You could order the SLs in any color combination you liked from the offered paints.
For example, silver paint (180) was very often ordered with blue interior _and_ blue softtop although this was not a DB-recommended combination. :|
Only "further colors" were pretty difficult ...

I think this might be Pagoda Number 2 for Mal? As for what goes with black? I think that either White (050) or Signal Red (568) would be nice.
